The Actor Stats Resume

What it is and Why it’s Important

Feb 15, 2009 Sean Pratt

The "Actor Stats" resume is a document that details a host of important information not usually found on an Actor's standard resume.

Every actor knows they must have a resume which details their performance history, contains their contact info and lists their education, etc. But few Actors know they should also create an “Actor Stats” resume which provides a different set of data which the producer, director, costume designer, etc., will need to know once they have been hired for a project. Let’s compare and contrast the two.

The Standard Actor Resume

This resume should contain most, if not all, of the following items. Note that you may need to list additional information that fits into your specific work as a performer. For example, if you act in training films for the government you would want to highlight the fact that you have a security clearance, etc.

  • Your name
  • Union affiliations – If you are a member.
  • Your contact information - Your agent's number (If you have one), your cell phone number, e-mail, and website. Do not list your home address and phone number! You never know where your resume is going to end up!
  • Height & Weight
  • Hair & Eye color
  • Voice range
  • Age range – This one is optional. Sometimes agents and casting directors ask for it, though.
  • A selection of your performance history
  • Special skills
  • Education
  • Awards

The Actor Stats Resume

An "Actor Stats” resume is an information sheet with a different set of data on it, used for another purpose entirely. When you get hired for a project, be it a play, movie, commercial, etc., often times the producer, costume department and payroll department will need more detailed information about you. Here's what would comprise a basic "Actor Stats” resume -

  • Your name
  • ALL your contact information - Home address (They may need to mail you something...like your check!) all your phone/fax numbers, email, etc.
  • Your Union ID numbers
  • Your Social Security number – This one is optional as you may want to give it out verbally and not have it written down, but they must have it or you won’t get paid on time.
  • Height & Weight – Be honest!
  • Hair & Eye color
  • Suit or Dress size - Once again, be honest!
  • Shirt - Collar and sleeve
  • Waist
  • Hips
  • Inseam
  • Shoe
  • Hat
  • Glove
  • Bra

This information will make their life a lot easier when it comes to getting in touch with you and/or pulling clothing for your costume fitting. You will make instant friends with the people on the production staff by having this little document available for them! Now if you really want to make their day you can create an even more detailed "Actor Stats" resume that contains the following extra information. You'll need to have a tailor, or someone from a costume department, take these measurements for you as some of them are a little tricky.

  • Tight Size
  • Head
  • Neck
  • Chest
  • Bust
  • Rise
  • Shoulder Seam
  • Back breadth
  • Shoulder Front
  • Chest Front
  • Thigh
  • Coloring
  • Allergies
  • Arm length
  • Upper Arm
  • Lower Arm
  • Shoulder to Elbow
  • Outside Arm
  • Inside Arm
  • Out seam
  • Front waist
  • Side waist
  • Back waist
  • Shoulder to Waist
  • Front Shoulder to Waist
  • Back of Neck to Floor
  • Waist to Knee
  • Waist to Hip
  • Calf
  • Wrist
